N.Kama 'A Special Place in NYC' New York, 2007

Ladies and Gentlemen, I gladly presently you all one of the most popular places in New York, as most of you know...42nd St. a.k.a Times Square. I have been shooting this particular spot for months now but I thank God for this frame. After learning a few techiques on shooting at night time...actually what happened was I saw the walk sign, ran almost to the middle of the street and waited for a car to come behind me, as soon as I saw one coming w/full light...BAM!

I will tell you...this was a dangerous move cos Times Sq. is one heck of a busy place, everything going on here is too fast. The yellow cabs everywhere and the drivers are so aggressive, the people are impatient, it's crowded, traffic lights change fast...etc. How I did this...I'm still amazed. Framing this wasn't as easy as framing this shot, cos the street isn't as busy.

Tributes to 9/11 heroes and to those who lost their loved ones!!

THANK YOU GUYS FOR YOUR COMMENTS!!!! LOTS OF LUV!!!!

You are devoted to your art! I would not have dared to do what you did to get the shot. smile It turned out very well, though.
WOOOOOOW! Thanks for the ideas on how to process this shot! I like this!

Everybody has night shots up today. What's up with that? I like this one. The grain almost makes it look like rain, but the people aren't dressed for it.
Atmospheric grainy treatment.
I salute your bravery! It was well paid off. Great shot!
Super shot. It is one of those shots that will get better with age. It is timeless. What ISO did you shot at?
Anyway, I love it.

Nacha, this is a great tribute to those affected by 9/11. It says it well. You've caught the spirit of New York! (I recognize it from all the movies I've seen!)

This has a great vintage feel to it, NaCha, in the city that never sleeps. It's timeless! The city is very much alive, even after 9/11.

I know this place well and can confirm that what you did is in fact quite dangerous. And even more at night! Great composition and like the grain. Let's hope no 9/11 happens ever again in any part of the world.

nice one....... this definitely has a reminiscence of that Beatles Abbey Road shot (as Tracy says)....... overlaid with mega NYC......yeah nice one.......I love a bit of Times sq myself.... I was there with my ol mate Marc the other night... cops were hassling him about his tripod.... luckily i never use one..... i .... like you prefer a bit of handheld running about in the street!

Noise well used. Beautiful and .
Yeah, i went to NYC about 3 months ago and took a stroll down this street, just b/c i've never been there & thought i should just once.

It was SUPER - 10am and there was hardly anyone out, very odd feeling, then drove thur this street that night and what a difference in the CROWD jeez. I understand how hard this was to get - GREAT JOB!

Sensational night image, the veered one to cuttlefish(sepia) is sensational, probably with a bit of noise in the photography. Excellent apprehension. Regards!

I like the brownish tone and all the noise (grain) you have added. Despite the modern car, this has the feel of a shot out of the 1930s.

Very cool result.
you are a genious Nacha. I don't exagerate! Most crappy technocratic geeks strive to avoid vignetting, you almost put your live to get it there!
I love that idea of car behind you, I couldn't figure out how in hell you got that effect before I read text.
